Description

  • Develop and maintain business-critical APIs and services with a focus on high availability, low latency, security, and scalability.
  • Develop, test, deploy, and monitor microservices that power search, voice, and subtitles features.
  • Write maintainable, well-tested code and contribute to reusable code, libraries, and engineering patterns.
  • Implement solutions that scale services while meeting business and product requirements.
  • Use monitoring, profiling, tracing, and load testing tools to identify bottlenecks and improve performance.
  • Apply data modeling, query optimization, and caching techniques to address system bottlenecks.
  • Implement best practices for feature toggles, CI/CD, test automation, logging, and monitoring.
  • Participate in sprint planning, team meetings, on-call rotations, and incident response.
  • Provide regular updates to engineering leads, TPMs, and other stakeholders.

Requirements

  • MS or BS degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of software development experience building backend cloud application systems.
  • Experience with Kotlin, Python, or similar languages.
  • Experience with Spring Boot, Bottle/Gunicorn, or similar backend web frameworks.
  • Familiarity with relational databases such as PostgreSQL or MySQL and NoSQL databases such as DynamoDB or Mongo.
  • Familiarity with Elasticsearch and caching systems such as Memcache or Redis.
  • Experience with REST, gRPC, or GraphQL request processing.
  • Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes for containerization and orchestration.
  • Experience with AWS services and cloud infrastructure concepts, including DynamoDB, S3, ECR, IAM, Lambda, and SQS.
  • Experience with deployment tooling such as Terraform, GitHub Actions, or Jenkins.
  • Experience with observability and monitoring tools such as Datadog or similar APM solutions.
  • Understanding of API design principles, security best practices, and performance optimization.
  • Experience with production support and troubleshooting issues in distributed systems.
  • Ability to work in high-growth, fast-paced environments and adapt to change.
  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams from Product, Design, and QA.
  • Bonus: Experience building personal voice assistants or chatbots.
  • Bonus: Experience building search platforms or personalization for search and discovery.
  • Bonus: Experience with automatic speech recognition (ASR).
