Description

  • Analyze functional and non-functional requirements to define backend and API testing needs.
  • Design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts for REST, SOAP, and microservice interfaces.
  • Validate API responses, payloads, and data integrity using tools such as Postman, Swagger, and SOAP UI.
  • Execute integration, regression, load, and performance testing for backend systems.
  • Build and maintain automation frameworks using Python, Java, or Groovy.
  • Verify backend data through SQL queries against Oracle, PostgreSQL, or MySQL databases.
  • Troubleshoot API and data issues through log analysis and diagnostic tools.
  • Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or GitLab CI.
  • Participate in code reviews and recommend improvements to automation coverage and system efficiency.
  • Collaborate with developers, DevOps, and QA teams to ensure system quality and reliability.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 10 years of experience, or 8–10 years of experience, in backend or API test automation.
  • Strong knowledge of Agile, CI/CD, and DevOps practices.
  • Experience with performance testing and systems engineering.
  • Experience with JMeter and developing Curl or Shell scripts.
  • Working knowledge of REST and SOAP API testing.
  • Experience with backend and microservices testing.
  • Hands-on experience with Postman, Swagger, and SOAP UI.
  • Experience with SQL and databases such as PostgreSQL, Oracle, or MySQL.
  • Experience with automation and testing tools and frameworks such as REST Assured, PyTest, Karate, TestNG, JUnit, or Cucumber.
  • Experience with Docker and Kubernetes environments.
  • Programming experience in Java, Ruby, Python, or XML.
  • Experience with AWS or another cloud platform is desired.
  • Experience with API monitoring tools such as Splunk or Kibana is desired.
  • Experience with TDD or BDD is desired.
  • Experience with security and authentication testing is desired.
  • Experience with federal or large-scale enterprise systems is desired.
  • Relevant certifications are desired.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen and eligible for or already possess DHS suitability/background investigation and DHS Public Trust clearance.
