Description

  • Partner with engineers and product managers to define customer-focused solutions, milestones, and delivery plans.
  • Lead and support a high-performing engineering team through coaching, mentoring, and people management.
  • Contribute hands-on as a technical mentor and partner.
  • Guide tradeoffs between technical excellence, scalability, and rapid product delivery.
  • Drive development across edge software, device-to-cloud communication layers, and backend services.
  • Define and refine onboard architecture, implementation, testing, and development processes.
  • Support hardware lab operations or remote development, testing, and debugging solutions.
  • Monitor AI tooling developments and apply improvements to engineering workflows.
  • Communicate progress, feedback, learnings, and blockers across functions.
  • Build an inclusive, growth-oriented culture focused on employee satisfaction, retention, and outcomes.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of engineering leadership and people management experience, including developing engineers and building high-performing teams.
  • Experience delivering end-to-end products spanning cloud-based SaaS and embedded hardware in the field.
  • Ability to clarify goals, break down work, and manage competing priorities across product surfaces.
  • Proficiency with Python, Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, MQTT, and SQL databases.
  • Experience with serial interfaces such as RS-232, J1708, and CAN; network protocols including HTTP/REST, UDP, and TCP; and messaging patterns such as pub/sub and store-and-forward.
  • Fluency with Linux system administration, imaging, containerization, process management, networking, and security.
  • Familiarity with remote deployment and update mechanisms, including OTA updates, A/B partitioning, configuration management, and edge container orchestration.
  • Strong testing, validation, observability, and monitoring practices.
  • Experience with cloud-native architectures and services; AWS experience preferred.
  • Comfort applying modern AI tools in the software development lifecycle; growth mindset and commitment to feedback, blameless learning, and public-transit impact.
  • Eligible to work in the U.S. or Ontario/British Columbia, Canada; visa sponsorship is unavailable.
  • Willingness to attend approximately 1–2 annual company or team offsites, with additional travel possible for customer-facing roles.
