Description

  • Lead a distributed backend engineering team working asynchronously across time zones.
  • Hire, onboard, and develop an India-based engineering cluster, including intermediate engineers and a senior technical anchor.
  • Balance database health operations with the multi-quarter database migration-system replacement.
  • Protect the replatforming program’s critical path while meeting production and operational commitments.
  • Coach backend engineers across intermediate and senior levels.
  • Run the team through written decision records, visible priorities, and async-first management practices.
  • Collaborate with Distribution, QA, database framework, Database Architecture, Database Automation, and infrastructure teams.
  • Report team capacity, priorities, risks, and delivery status to senior engineering leadership.

Requirements

  • Experience managing remote, distributed engineering teams across multiple time zones.
  • Production PostgreSQL experience, including capacity planning and technical understanding of migration and reliability design.
  • Experience leading long-term platform or infrastructure programs alongside operational responsibilities.
  • Experience hiring and building a new team or site cluster.
  • Strong written communication skills and experience using writing as a primary management tool.
  • Experience coaching and developing backend engineers across multiple levels.
  • Ability to prioritize and protect team focus while maintaining production health.
  • Experience collaborating cross-functionally with engineering, QA, distribution, database, and infrastructure teams.
