Description

  • Lead the organization’s overall development and fundraising strategy to build and manage an effective philanthropic program.
  • Work with executive and program teams to set annual and multi-year fundraising and campaign goals that support revenue targets.
  • Support staff and board fundraisers in external relationships and communications with foundations, family offices, and other donors.
  • Provide research, talking points, and materials to support donor prospecting, cultivation, and asks.
  • Maintain organizational knowledge of donors and prospects to coordinate communications, stewardship, and fundraising opportunities.
  • Directly supervise the development team and manage, mentor, recruit, and retain staff.
  • Develop internal systems, policies, and processes for grants, contracts, gifts, and fundraising coordination.
  • Build and manage donor-engagement technology infrastructure, including expanded use of Salesforce CRM/database.
  • Prepare analyses and dashboards to track fundraising activities and guide decisions.
  • Research and evaluate new funders, maintain an active prospect list, and create action plans for donor outreach.
  • Provide coaching and training to staff and board to strengthen fundraising capacity across the organization.
  • Represent the organization at donor events, meetings, conferences, and related conversations as needed.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in nonprofit fundraising with increasing responsibility for development strategy, planning, management, systems, and coordination.
  • Broad knowledge of fundraising approaches for multiple donor audiences, especially philanthropic foundations and family offices.
  • Experience supporting executive leadership and program staff with cultivation, engagement, reporting, and funder acknowledgement.
  • Experience designing fundraising operations, systems, and teams.
  • Experience using modern data management practices and technology for relationship management, prospecting, and process improvement.
  • Ability to collaboratively develop effective technology solutions and build new processes where gaps exist.
  • Previous experience in climate and environmental organizations preferred.
  • Knowledge of fundraising principles, ethics, compliance, and best practices.
  • Exceptional composition, editing, and spoken communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple simultaneous projects, deadlines, and changing priorities efficiently.
  • Flexible working style and ability to work with a wide range of personalities and organization types.
  • High attention to detail and ability to anticipate informational needs as projects develop.
  • Commitment to building and supporting a positive and inclusive work environment.
  • This is a remote U.S.-based position that requires regular travel for meetings, conferences, and staff retreats.
  • Experience can include paid, unpaid, volunteer, and lived experience that built relevant competencies.

  • Starting salary range of $175,000-$215,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
