Description

  • Design, develop, and operate business-critical APIs and services with high availability, low latency, security, and scalability.
  • Serve as the technical lead for an agile team and lead technical discussions in architecture meetings, design reviews, and task breakdowns.
  • Mentor and coach junior engineers through code reviews, pair programming, and technical guidance.
  • Write maintainable, well-tested code and build reusable code, libraries, patterns, and components across teams.
  • Propose, experiment with, and implement solutions to scale services while meeting business and product requirements.
  • Use production monitoring, profiling, tracing, and load testing tools to identify bottlenecks and apply fixes such as data modeling, query optimization, and caching.
  • Champion best practices including feature toggles, CI/CD, test automation, logging, and monitoring.
  • Participate in on-call rotations and lead incident response efforts to maintain reliability.
  • Collaborate closely with Product, Design, QA, TPMs, and other stakeholders throughout the development lifecycle.

Requirements

  • MS or BS degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
  • 6+ years of software development experience building high-performance, highly scalable backend cloud application systems.
  • Expertise in Kotlin, Python, or similar languages.
  • Strong experience with Spring Boot, Bottle/Gunicorn, or similar backend web frameworks.
  • Experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL or MySQL and NoSQL databases such as DynamoDB or MongoDB.
  • Hands-on experience with Elasticsearch query optimization and scaling.
  • Experience with caching systems such as Memcache or Redis.
  • Experience with REST, gRPC, or GraphQL request processing.
  • Experience with Docker and Kubernetes for containerization and orchestration.
  • Experience with AWS services and cloud infrastructure design, including DynamoDB, S3, ECR, IAM, Lambda, and SQS.
  • Experience with deployment tooling such as Terraform, GitHub Actions, or Jenkins.
  • Experience with observability and monitoring tools such as Datadog or similar APM solutions.
  • Strong understanding of API design principles, security best practices, and performance optimization.
  • Experience with production support, incident response, and troubleshooting complex distributed systems.
  • Experience collaborating with and influencing cross-functional teams such as Product, Design, and QA.
  • Preferred experience building personal voice assistants or chatbots.
  • Preferred experience building search platforms or personalization for search and discovery.
  • Preferred experience working with automatic speech recognition (ASR).
