Description

  • Design and implement software solutions that transform device data into grid resources.
  • Design and implement systems for ingesting and managing data from utility software systems.
  • Operate independently to identify solutions, surface roadblocks, and break work down for senior engineers across teams.
  • Build cross-functional influence and help drive company-wide initiatives and shared roadmap execution.
  • Develop new ways to connect internal systems to energy markets and grid-balancing systems.
  • Develop APIs and tools that enable hardware manufacturers and third-party software systems to integrate with the platform.
  • Collaborate with analytics and machine learning teams to deliver data insights and optimize virtual power plants.
  • Improve the scale, automation, and reliability of large telemetry, energy, and weather data pipelines.
  • Introduce tools, techniques, and best practices that benefit the broader engineering team.
  • Respond to novel technical, operational, and organizational challenges.
  • Mentor early-career engineers and more senior engineers across the teams you work with.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of professional software development experience.
  • Experience with Python and SQL.
  • Experience building data pipelines and ELT/ETL systems.
  • Comfort with leading system design and architecture.
  • Experience with data warehouses and data modeling; Snowflake is used.
  • Experience designing and building data pipelines within an electric utility (preferred).
  • Familiarity with Airflow, dbt, AWS Kinesis, and S3 (preferred).
  • Experience with automated testing, CI/CD, and monitoring systems (preferred).
  • Experience with Java or MongoDB (preferred).
  • Experience with Sigma, Tableau, or similar BI tools (preferred).
  • Authorization to work without new sponsorship, as sponsorship is not available for this position.
