Description

  • Lead the architecture and long-term technical roadmap for the Phone Numbers Platform.
  • Modernize legacy systems into a distributed microservices architecture that supports global scale.
  • Use AI coding assistants and LLMs to automate boilerplate, generate tests, and speed up prototyping.
  • Drive technical excellence across multiple teams through key architectural decisions.
  • Partner with Product Managers to turn telecommunications regulations and customer needs into developer-first APIs and workflows.
  • Mentor senior and staff engineers and promote a culture of ownership and continuous learning.
  • Identify and mitigate technical risks related to scalability, security, and reliability.
  • Lead response and long-term remediation for complex production incidents.
  • Communicate technical strategy through design documents, RFCs, and presentations to engineering and executive stakeholders.

Requirements

  • 15+ years of experience designing and developing highly available, high-scale, secure, mission-critical cloud-native distributed systems.
  • Expert proficiency in Java or Go.
  • Deep knowledge of AWS ecosystems, including Lambda, EKS, DynamoDB, and Kafka.
  • Deep experience with cloud-native infrastructure, preferably on AWS.
  • Experience designing microservices and 99.999% resilient systems.
  • Demonstrated experience using AI tools to accelerate software delivery and discuss LLM use for brainstorming, debugging, and code synthesis.
  • Track record of building and maintaining high-volume public-facing APIs with strong developer experience.
  • Experience with high-throughput data processing and storage solutions such as SQL/NoSQL, Redis, Kafka, or Spark.
  • Proficiency with Kubernetes, Terraform, and modern CI/CD paradigms.
  • Proven ability to influence technical strategy across teams and organizational boundaries without direct authority.
  • Telecom domain expertise, including telephony protocols, local number porting (LNP), or global regulatory compliance frameworks, is desired.
  • Experience building internal platforms that help other developer teams move faster is desired.
  • Experience building or integrating AI agents into internal developer platforms or automated ops workflows is desired.
  • Role is remote and based in the West Coast, USA, including the San Francisco Bay Area.
  • Occasional travel may be required for project or team in-person meetings.
