Description

  • Manage a small product team of 3-5 backend and frontend engineers.
  • Spend about 30% of time on management responsibilities while staying actively involved in product development.
  • Participate in hiring processes for the team and support peers when needed.
  • Own onboarding for new engineers joining the team.
  • Manage team dynamics and act as the spokesperson for the team.
  • Provide continuous, constructive feedback and coaching to direct reports.
  • Support the growth and career development of each direct report.
  • Redesign engineering delivery so autonomous agents are the default execution layer.
  • Design and operationalize end-to-end agentic workflows from specification through verification.
  • Build reusable agentic workflows and primitives in the codebase.
  • Use tests, checks, evals, and guardrails to verify correctness, security, reliability, and scalability.

Requirements

  • Managed an engineering team of at least 2 people.
  • Extensive experience with frontend technologies such as React, JavaScript, ES6, and Jest, or backend technologies such as Elixir and Phoenix.
  • Strong engineering fundamentals with a track record of shipping secure, reliable, and scalable production systems.
  • Practical experience designing or adopting agentic or automation workflows, or similar systems, and improving them through iteration.
  • Ability to think in systems, including defining specs, breaking down plans, instrumenting verification, and closing the quality loop.
  • Solid communication skills.
  • Solid knowledge of engineering and development principles and best practices.
  • Proven organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to inspire others and instill confidence.
  • Good understanding of team dynamics.
  • Commitment to promoting Remote’s values, including diversity, equality, and inclusion.
  • Experience with automation and AI capabilities is expected as part of Remote’s role requirements.
  • Ability to start as soon as possible.
