Description

  • Build and maintain production Ruby on Rails applications, backend features, and RESTful APIs.
  • Design databases, manage migrations, and optimize PostgreSQL/MySQL queries, indexing, caching, and application performance.
  • Develop and manage background jobs using Sidekiq or Resque.
  • Integrate third-party APIs and external services.
  • Write unit, integration, and system tests using tools such as RSpec, Minitest, and Capybara.
  • Maintain code quality with RuboCop, StandardRB, automated test coverage, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Implement authentication, authorization, security controls, and applicable compliance requirements.
  • Monitor application health, troubleshoot production issues, deploy fixes, and improve reliability and availability.
  • Collaborate with product managers, designers, and frontend engineers through planning, reviews, retrospectives, and technical discussions.
  • Document APIs, codebases, architecture, and development workflows.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of professional Ruby on Rails development experience.
  • Strong proficiency with Ruby, Rails, ActiveRecord, and MVC architecture.
  • Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL and/or MySQL.
  • Experience with Sidekiq or Resque and RESTful API development.
  • Strong Git and version-control workflow experience.
  • Experience supporting CI/CD pipelines.
  • Understanding of software engineering best practices, testing, debugging, and problem-solving.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment during U.S. client business hours.
  • Experience with React, Vue.js, or Stimulus (preferred).
  • Cloud deployment experience with AWS, GCP, or Heroku; Redis/Memcached and containerized environments are preferred.
