Description

  • Build and maintain production Ruby on Rails applications, backend services, business logic, and internal tools.
  • Design, maintain, and integrate RESTful APIs, third-party services, SaaS platforms, payment systems, and webhooks.
  • Implement authentication, authorization, rate limiting, and background synchronization workflows.
  • Design and optimize PostgreSQL or MySQL schemas, SQL queries, indexes, and database performance.
  • Build asynchronous workflows with Sidekiq or Resque and improve performance using Redis and caching.
  • Write unit, integration, and system tests using RSpec, Minitest, or Capybara.
  • Participate in code reviews and CI/CD workflows while reducing technical debt.
  • Troubleshoot production issues, API bottlenecks, background-job performance, and application reliability problems.
  • Apply secure development and OWASP practices and monitor application health with tools such as New Relic, Datadog, Honeybadger, or Rollbar.
  • Collaborate with product and engineering teams to deliver reliable, maintainable features and influence technical architecture.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of professional Ruby on Rails development experience.
  • Strong proficiency with Ruby, Rails, ActiveRecord, and MVC architecture.
  • Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL or MySQL and database performance optimization.
  • Experience building and integrating REST APIs.
  • Experience with Sidekiq or Resque, plus familiarity with Redis, caching, and background processing.
  • Experience with Git and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Strong understanding of scalable backend application development, debugging, and problem-solving.
  • Comfort working remotely during U.S. business hours.
  • Experience with React, Vue.js, or Stimulus is preferred.
  • AWS, GCP, or Heroku deployment experience, SaaS/fintech/healthcare/e-commerce experience, Devise or OmniAuth experience, and high-traffic Rails optimization experience are preferred.
