Description

  • Maintain the Simple application by addressing bugs and security vulnerabilities.
  • Collaborate with cardiovascular health leadership and country teams to develop features and fixes.
  • Support DHIS2 integration, monitoring, reporting, configuration, and related changes.
  • Own parts of the HEARTS360 Toolkit and extend it for new use cases.
  • Write and maintain Python integration scripts and data pipelines.
  • Support production environments for Simple and DHIS2 by investigating issues and communicating with stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain backend systems and integrations across open-source digital health products.
  • Explore applied machine learning and MLOps opportunities to improve patient retention.

Requirements

  • Typically 2–4 years of professional experience writing production Python code.
  • Experience building and supporting backend applications in production, including applications operating at scale.
  • Proficiency with Python frameworks for integration, data management, or machine learning.
  • Knowledge of SQL, including performance investigation and execution plan analysis.
  • Experience with modern cloud infrastructure; AWS experience is applicable.
  • Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD, APIs, monitoring tools, or object-oriented programming principles.
  • Knowledge of caching implementation and familiarity with user-facing components.
  • Ability and willingness to learn new programming languages, including Ruby, Java, or Rails-based systems.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, interest in distributed teams, and fluency in English.
  • Preferred: experience with Java integrations, open-source development, DHIS2, electronic health records, digital health platforms, machine learning, analytics, or MLOps.
