Description

  • Build and maintain Ruby on Rails applications, REST APIs, backend services, and internal tools.
  • Develop scalable backend systems and reusable services using ActiveRecord, MVC architecture, and Rails conventions.
  • Design and maintain PostgreSQL or MySQL schemas, optimize SQL queries, and improve database performance.
  • Implement caching strategies, background processing, and asynchronous workflows using tools such as Sidekiq, Resque, and Redis.
  • Design and maintain RESTful APIs and integrations with third-party services, payment systems, SaaS platforms, and external APIs.
  • Handle authentication, authorization, role-based permissions, rate limiting, background sync jobs, and webhook processing.
  • Write and maintain unit, integration, and system tests while supporting automated CI/CD deployments.
  • Implement security best practices, including secure authentication, CSRF protection, input validation, and compliance-aware workflows.
  • Monitor application performance, troubleshoot production issues, and deploy fixes with minimal downtime.
  • Collaborate with product managers, designers, frontend engineers, and QA teams in sprint planning, standups, code reviews, and technical discussions.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of Ruby on Rails development experience.
  • Strong proficiency with Ruby, Rails, ActiveRecord, and MVC architecture.
  • Experience with PostgreSQL or MySQL.
  • Experience with Sidekiq or Resque.
  • Experience with Git workflows and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Strong understanding of API development, backend architecture, and scalable web applications.
  • Preferred experience integrating React, Vue.js, or Stimulus.
  • Preferred experience deploying Rails applications to AWS, GCP, or Heroku.
  • Familiarity with Redis, Memcached, background workers, and caching systems.
  • Industry experience in SaaS, fintech, healthcare, or e-commerce is preferred.
