Description

  • Design, build, and optimize tools that improve the SQL experience with MongoDB.
  • Develop features for the MongoDB SQL Interface and related analytics products.
  • Collaborate with product managers and customer experience teams to evaluate user needs and deliver intuitive features.
  • Improve the performance, scalability, and reliability of the SQL interface for large datasets and complex queries.
  • Contribute to existing products by developing features and fixing bugs.
  • Lead key team projects and contribute to the product roadmap.
  • Advocate for technical excellence while balancing feature delivery with system quality.
  • Monitor database and cloud industry trends and bring innovative ideas to the team.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of professional software engineering experience focused on backend systems and database technologies.
  • Proficiency in at least one compiled programming language, with interest in Rust, Java, and Go.
  • Strong computer science fundamentals, including data structures, algorithms, and software architecture.
  • Familiarity with SQL query execution, optimization, and relational database systems.
  • Interest in database query engine theory and practice; professional experience or an M.S./Ph.D. in the field is preferred.
  • Experience with MongoDB or other non-relational databases is a plus.
  • Ability to break complex problems into manageable components and deliver solutions.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams and advocate for technical improvements.
  • Interest in helping users interact with and analyze data.
  • Ability to work in Austin, New York City, Palo Alto, or San Francisco, or remotely within the U.S. region.
