Description

  • Work directly with customers, partners, and sales leadership to move deals toward closure.
  • Partner closely with the global sales organization to prioritize resources and support sales targets.
  • Assess client pain points and business needs and recommend appropriate solutions.
  • Design and drive database-centric solutions for customer challenges.
  • Create statements of work with support from the technical team.
  • Prepare presentations, web conferences, white papers, workflows, and RFP/RFI responses.
  • Manage stakeholders at multiple levels, including CIOs, CTOs, CXOs, and DBAs.
  • Support sales efforts through travel, including customer visits and conference booth coverage.
  • Work across channel sales relationships, including ISVs, vendors, and consultancies.

Requirements

  • 8 to 10 years of hands-on senior sales engineer experience.
  • Strong database or database architecture experience, with MariaDB or MySQL strongly preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server.
  • Experience with in-memory compute platforms such as Redis and Apache Ignite is desirable.
  • Working understanding of other databases and open-source technologies.
  • Experience working on complex customer PoC engagements.
  • Experience collaborating with customer success and field teams in customer orientation efforts.
  • Excellent communication skills and strong organizational ability.
  • Very strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Fundamental knowledge of programming languages, web stack technologies, Linux, and AI development.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in a related field.
  • English fluency in speaking and writing is mandatory; additional regional language skills are preferred.
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 40% of the time, with a valid passport.
  • Experience with pre-sales in an open-source software environment is a bonus.
  • Experience with pre-sales in a SaaS or managed services environment is a bonus.
  • Cloud engineering or public cloud experience is a bonus.
  • Kubernetes and Java skills are a bonus.
  • History of public speaking and writing blogs or articles is a bonus.
