Description

  • Lead the design and implementation of scalable, high-performance backend services, microservices, and APIs.
  • Develop and maintain streaming data pipelines and event-driven systems for real-time data processing.
  • Optimize backend performance, resilience, fault tolerance, and low-latency response times under heavy load.
  • Implement comprehensive monitoring, logging, and tracing to improve observability and reliability.
  • Collaborate with Product, Data Science, DevOps, and Frontend teams to translate business needs into technical solutions.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship through code reviews, design discussions, and best-practice adoption.
  • Contribute to technical strategy, including evaluating emerging technologies and making build-vs-buy recommendations.
  • Help deliver new features and platform improvements aligned with the product roadmap.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of software engineering experience building backend systems, including 3+ years in a senior or lead role.
  • Experience building high-throughput, low-latency distributed systems at scale, handling thousands of requests per second or more.
  • Expertise in microservices architecture and distributed system design, including decomposing monoliths or building greenfield services.
  • Proficiency in Java and Go, with experience using Python for scripting, automation, or data processing.
  • Hands-on experience with Apache Kafka or AWS Kinesis, and familiarity with stream processing frameworks such as Spark Streaming or Flink.
  • Strong cloud experience, preferably with AWS, including EC2, S3, Lambda, and SNS/SQS.
  • Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, DynamoDB, Cassandra, or Redis.
  • Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines for microservice deployment.
  • Experience with observability and monitoring tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, or the ELK stack.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills in an agile environment.
  • Preferred: Deep knowledge of the programmatic advertising ecosystem, including DSPs, SSPs, ad exchanges, and real-time bidding.
  • Preferred: Experience building or optimizing DSP or ad server components.
  • Preferred: Experience with extreme-scale systems such as real-time auction systems or high-frequency trading platforms.
  • Preferred: Familiarity with big data and analytics tools such as Spark, Hadoop, Druid, or ClickHouse.
  • Preferred: Advanced performance tuning experience, including JVM tuning, concurrency, GC optimization, or network I/O.
  • Preferred: Open-source contributions, technical publications, or conference speaking experience.
  • Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field; Master’s or Ph.D. is a plus.
