Description

  • Research, design, develop, modify, implement, and test software for population simulation.
  • Work with customers and end users to define project requirements and translate them into timelines.
  • Collaborate across Agile teams to build, test, implement, and support backend technical solutions.
  • Write efficient, well-designed, and testable code, primarily in Java.
  • Recommend improvements to existing application processes.
  • Prepare and release software components.
  • Provide technical support and consultation on application and infrastructure questions.
  • Help define architecture requirements and design/development standards.
  • Consult with management and customers on product feasibility, plans, and designs.
  • Participate in product demonstrations, trade shows, seminars, panels, and user group meetings.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in a software engineering role.
  • Experience designing, building, scaling, and maintaining production software.
  • Strong coding ability with an emphasis on quality and testability.
  • Experience using Java and Python.
  • Strong understanding of DevOps and software/application development processes.
  • Hands-on experience with CI and configuration management tools such as GitLab, JIRA, Confluence, Jenkins, and Nexus.
  • Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases and query optimization.
  • Experience with population simulation or other data simulation (desired).
  • Experience leading software development efforts in government Modeling and Simulation environments (desired).
  • Experience with geospatial engineering (desired).
  • Experience with big data tools such as Spark/Hadoop, Google BigQuery, AWS Athena, and EMR (desired).
  • Experience with public clouds such as AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure (desired).
  • Strong data visualization skills (desired).
  • Bachelor’s degree desired; experience may be accepted in lieu of a degree.
  • Active TS/SCI clearance or eligibility to be cleared.
  • U.S. citizenship and residence in the contiguous United States.
  • Ability to travel less than 10%, including a two-week stay in Rome, NY and occasional trips to the DMV area.
  • W-2 employment only; third-party applications are not accepted.
