Description

  • Design, build, and maintain custom AOSP images for containerised Android environments.
  • Own Android build pipelines, tooling, signing, and image lifecycle management.
  • Develop reproducible, scalable, and secure Android platform builds.
  • Work across Android framework, HAL, Linux systems, and container runtime layers.
  • Optimise platform performance, including boot time, graphics performance, memory usage, and session density.
  • Support Android application integration, runtime configuration, and compatibility management.
  • Improve streaming performance, including input latency reduction and media optimisation.
  • Implement platform security hardening, including SELinux policies, attestation, signing, and verification.
  • Build tooling for debugging, inspection, automated testing, and operational support.
  • Collaborate with cloud, networking, platform, security, and product engineering teams.
  • Contribute to architectural discussions and technical direction across the platform domain.
  • Produce technical documentation and operational runbooks for regulated environments.

Requirements

  • Strong commercial experience with AOSP and Android platform internals.
  • Experience building and maintaining custom Android platform images.
  • Strong Linux systems engineering experience.
  • Hands-on experience with Android internals such as framework services, HAL, binder, init, package management, and SELinux.
  • Experience with containerised Android environments such as Anbox, Anbox Cloud, Cuttlefish, or Waydroid.
  • Experience with LXC/LXD or comparable container runtime technologies.
  • Strong understanding of Android build systems, including repo, Soong, and Make.
  • Experience with ARM64 architecture and cross-compilation environments.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and large-scale build environments.
  • Programming experience in C, C++, Java, or Kotlin.
  • Experience working in secure, regulated, or high-assurance environments.
  • Eligible for UK SC clearance, including right to work in the UK, 5 continuous years of UK residency, and no more than 6 months spent outside the UK in total during that period.
  • Direct experience with Anbox Cloud, AMS, or Streaming SDKs is desirable.
  • Experience with Kubernetes, OpenShift, or OKD is desirable.
  • Experience with graphics and media technologies such as Vulkan, GLES, Mesa, or virtual GPU environments is desirable.
  • Experience with WebRTC or low-latency streaming technologies is desirable.
  • Experience with observability tools such as Grafana, Prometheus, or the Elastic Stack is desirable.
  • Experience with Android CTS/VTS testing is desirable.
  • Exposure to GPU passthrough or partitioning technologies is desirable.
  • Contributions to AOSP, LineageOS, Anbox, or related open-source projects are desirable.
  • Previous active or recent UK SC clearance is desirable.
