Description

  • Own the architecture and API surface of the multi-tenant AI/ML platform.
  • Manage the end-to-end model and prompt lifecycle across Databricks MLflow and AWS Bedrock.
  • Design inference infrastructure for real-time and batch workloads, including routing, batching, caching, concurrency, GPU capacity, and graceful degradation.
  • Integrate RAG, LLM, tool-calling, MCP, and agent runtime capabilities into production systems.
  • Build platform security controls for prompt injection, tool abuse, PII/PHI, and tenant data isolation.
  • Develop evaluation infrastructure, regression gates, A/B and shadow deployments, and drift or hallucination monitoring.
  • Establish observability, monitoring, alerting, tracing, and SLI/SLO/SLA practices for probabilistic systems.
  • Ensure reproducibility, lineage, versioning, and auditability for regulated pharmaceutical environments.
  • Contribute to infrastructure-as-code, deployment automation, multi-tenant upgrades, and on-demand compute allocation.
  • Lead design reviews, technical documentation, mentoring, production readiness, incident response, and build-versus-buy decisions.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of software and infrastructure engineering experience designing and scaling distributed cloud-native production systems.
  • Experience serving as a technical leader or architect accountable for system design, scalability, performance, and cost decisions.
  • Extensive experience delivering production AI/ML infrastructure as a multi-tenant external product.
  • Hands-on experience operating LLM systems in production, including RAG, retrieval and embeddings, prompt/model versioning, and tool or function calling.
  • Expert-level TypeScript and Python skills for robust APIs and backend services.
  • Production experience with model registries and serving platforms, ideally Databricks MLflow.
  • Experience using AI evaluation as a release gate, including evaluation harnesses, regression testing, and drift or quality monitoring.
  • Proficiency in REST, OpenAPI, secure API-first design, AWS, Docker, CloudFormation or CDK, and CI/CD automation.
  • Experience defining observability and SLI/SLO/SLA practices, including monitoring, alerting, and distributed tracing.
  • Ability to influence cross-functional technical direction, communicate with customers, and mentor engineers; preferred experience includes agents/MCP, multimodal models, optimization, regulated environments, or life sciences.
