Description

  • Build and lead the Business Development team through recruitment, mentorship, and professional development.
  • Establish performance metrics, accountability structures, and a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Design and execute the business development strategy and annual, quarterly, and monthly sales plans.
  • Develop end-to-end sales processes and systems for prospecting, qualification, proposal development, negotiation, and close.
  • Implement CRM tools and pipeline management practices to track activity and forecast revenue.
  • Personally identify, qualify, and close significant opportunities with corporate partners, foundations, and major donors.
  • Create handoff protocols and documentation for transitioning closed deals to stewardship and account management teams.
  • Build and maintain a robust pipeline of qualified opportunities and report on performance to senior leadership.
  • Cultivate strategic relationships with key decision-makers and represent Team Rubicon at industry events and networking forums.
  • Negotiate partnership terms and work with Legal and Finance to ensure compliance and alignment with organizational standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business, nonprofit management, sales, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • 8+ years of progressive nonprofit fundraising and business development leadership experience in fast-paced environments.
  • Proven track record of building and scaling teams from the ground up with minimal existing framework.
  • Experience designing sales processes and systems that support repeatable revenue generation and scalability.
  • Demonstrated success managing the full sales cycle from prospecting through closing with corporate, foundation, and major donor prospects.
  • Ability to operate with a hunter mentality while also building processes and developing others.
  • Strong negotiation, contract management, and project management skills.
  • CRM and pipeline management expertise, with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Salesforce or equivalent systems.
  • Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills with C-suite and senior decision-makers.
  • Ability to thrive in ambiguous, high-growth, mission-driven environments.
