Description

  • Lead and grow the Product Development organization in the Czech Republic.
  • Translate company strategy and SVP Engineering priorities into roadmaps and OKRs.
  • Own cross-functional execution with Product, Analytics, Operations, and Warehouse Engineering.
  • Set engineering standards and maintain delivery, quality, and production accountability.
  • Build, hire, onboard, and develop senior engineers and managers.
  • Own headcount planning, budget justification, and ROI-based staffing decisions.
  • Drive incident response, postmortems, and systemic improvements in your area.
  • Track and improve delivery, quality, on-call, and merchant-impact metrics.
  • Frame technical and infrastructure investments in business terms.
  • Champion AI-assisted development and internal tooling improvements.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of professional software development experience, including 4+ years in engineering leadership roles.
  • Direct experience managing managers.
  • Experience leading multiple teams, typically 25–60 engineers total, delivering production software.
  • Proven ownership of org delivery improvements in throughput, quality, retention, or business impact.
  • Hands-on hiring experience with senior engineers and managers.
  • Strong business judgment with examples of scope cuts, roadmap resequencing, and ROI-based staffing decisions.
  • Comfort with modern web/backend engineering practices, Git, CI/CD, observability, and incident response.
  • Strong written English for async discussions, strategy docs, and cross-functional decisions.
  • Experience in e-commerce, logistics, fulfillment, WMS/OMS, or software controlling physical operations in real time (preferred).
  • Experience scaling an engineering org through a scale-up-to-mature transition, including career ladders, performance processes, and on-call/incident practices (preferred).
  • Familiarity with PHP, Symfony, Doctrine, MySQL, or a comparable mature monolith-plus-services environment and monorepo workflows (preferred).
  • Experience with Strangler-Fig or similar monolith-decomposition programs in a live system (preferred).
  • Experience adopting AI-assisted development across an organization (preferred).
  • Experience leading distributed teams across multiple European countries (preferred).
  • Public technical or leadership footprint such as blog posts, talks, OSS contributions, or conference participation (preferred).
  • Bachelor’s degree in CS, Software Engineering, or a related field preferred but not required.
