Description

  • Serve as a senior leader on the Development leadership team and align communications with organizational priorities.
  • Lead development of an integrated communications strategy that elevates the brand and statewide impact.
  • Build, mentor, and manage a high-performing communications team.
  • Lead crisis communications, rapid response planning, and reputational risk mitigation.
  • Manage communications projects, including timelines, budgets, resources, and deadlines.
  • Oversee creation of press releases, op-eds, speeches, donor communications, case for support, campaign storytelling, talking points, social media, and multimedia assets.
  • Build and maintain media relationships, serve as a spokesperson when needed, and manage media inquiries.
  • Establish KPIs, analyze communication performance data, and present results to leadership and stakeholders.
  • Oversee advocacy and electoral communications, including voter education, mobilization, and candidate endorsements.
  • Direct marketing for health and education services and manage vendor relationships.
  • Strengthen internal communications through newsletters, meetings, and other staff communication channels.
  • Cultivate relationships with stakeholders, partners, community leaders, and internal teams.

Requirements

  • At least 5-8 years of donor communications, media relations, case for support, and campaign storytelling experience.
  • At least 3-4 years of experience in a leadership and/or supervisory role.
  • Demonstrated ability to partner with cross-functional teams and incorporate multiple stakeholder perspectives into communications.
  • Demonstrated commitment to Planned Parenthood’s mission, vision, and values.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours and commute to statewide events when necessary.
  • Ability to work under pressure on multiple projects concurrently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to facilitate meetings, listen actively, build consensus, and maintain effective relationships across an organization.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote environment.
  • Strong understanding of reproductive health issues, advocacy, and the Michigan political landscape.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment, diplomacy, confidentiality, and self-motivation.
  • Preferred: fluency in Spanish.
  • Commitment to advancing race equity, diversity, equity, and inclusion principles.
  • Experience using project management tools like Asana.
