Description

  • Design and evolve GraphQL schemas in a federated graph, including server-driven UI contracts for mobile and web clients.
  • Treat schemas as versioned contracts, coordinate breaking-change migrations, and keep generated client models in sync.
  • Develop, scale, and optimize GraphQL APIs, RPC endpoints, and SQL queries behind web surfaces.
  • Build front-end applications and shared libraries with React and TypeScript.
  • Build fast, accessible web applications.
  • Partner with product and design to architect and ship customer-facing features.
  • Use observability tooling to diagnose issues and improve guest experience.
  • Set up and refine monitoring and alerting in DataDog for owned systems.
  • Improve code quality by identifying technical debt and proposing fixes.
  • Find production bottlenecks and drive changes that improve platform scalability.
  • Mentor teammates through code review, pairing, and documentation.
  • Participate in design, architecture, and delivery of new features in a collaborative agile team.
  • Write thorough tests for features and bug fixes, and work with QA on automated testing and CI/CD workflows.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of experience in software engineering.
  • Strong JavaScript, TypeScript, and React experience, with good UX instincts.
  • 2+ years designing and evolving GraphQL schemas for multi-client product surfaces.
  • Fluency with HTML, CSS, and browser APIs, including the DOM and events.
  • Strong foundation in computer science, including data structures, distributed systems, algorithms, and software design.
  • Experience working with production systems at scale, including load testing and tracing.
  • Experience investigating and fixing production performance regressions, including CPU hotspots and latency issues.
  • Experience with on-call rotation and owning release cycles end to end.
  • Clear writing ability, including tech specs, runbooks, and cross-team design docs.
  • Experience with API development in Node or Bun, or another server framework such as Phoenix, Ruby on Rails, FastAPI, or Laravel.
  • Experience building and integrating multi-client or white-label platforms, including geo-based routing and per-brand configuration.
  • Experience with Kubernetes and operating services in containers.
  • Comfort working in the terminal, with Git and GitHub or similar, and in an editor of choice.
  • Experience with testing frameworks such as Jest or Vitest, and ExUnit, RSpec, or pytest.
  • Nice to have: Apollo Federation at scale, GraphQL APIs with Absinthe, iOS or Android development with Swift or Kotlin, hexagonal architecture, domain-driven design, PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oban, Exq, Sidekiq, Celery, Kafka, RabbitMQ, SQS/SNS, Pub/Sub, open source contributions, startup experience, or a passion for sports or esports.
