Description

  • Build, maintain, and enhance Ruby on Rails applications, APIs, and backend services.
  • Design RESTful APIs and integrate third-party and external services.
  • Develop scalable business logic using Rails, ActiveRecord, controllers, and service objects.
  • Design and optimize PostgreSQL or MySQL schemas, queries, indexes, and caching strategies.
  • Manage background jobs using Sidekiq, Resque, or equivalent frameworks.
  • Write automated unit, integration, and system tests and maintain strong test coverage.
  • Support CI/CD pipelines, automated deployments, code reviews, and coding standards.
  • Monitor application performance, troubleshoot production issues, and deploy fixes with minimal downtime.
  • Implement authentication, authorization, security, and applicable data privacy standards.
  • Collaborate with product, design, and engineering teams on planning, estimation, architecture, documentation, and technical decisions.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of professional Ruby on Rails development experience.
  • Strong proficiency with Ruby, Rails, ActiveRecord, and MVC architecture.
  • Experience with PostgreSQL or MySQL databases.
  • Experience with background job frameworks such as Sidekiq or Resque.
  • Strong understanding of RESTful APIs and backend application architecture.
  • Experience with Git workflows, CI/CD pipelines, and automated testing using RSpec, Minitest, or similar frameworks.
  • Excellent problem-solving, debugging, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote, collaborative environment.
  • Experience integrating React, Vue, or Stimulus with Rails applications preferred.
  • Experience with AWS, GCP, Heroku, Docker, Kubernetes, Redis, Memcached, or modern DevOps workflows preferred.
  • Experience building SaaS, fintech, healthcare, or e-commerce applications preferred.
  • Availability to work U.S. business hours; candidates in LATAM, Eastern Europe, Pakistan, and South Africa are preferred.
