Description

  • Build and maintain production Ruby on Rails applications, backend services, business logic, and internal tools.
  • Design and maintain RESTful APIs, webhooks, third-party integrations, and payment system connections.
  • Implement authentication, authorization, rate limiting, and background synchronization workflows.
  • Design and optimize PostgreSQL or MySQL schemas, SQL queries, indexes, Redis caching, and database performance.
  • Build asynchronous workflows using Sidekiq or Resque.
  • Write unit, integration, and system tests using RSpec, Minitest, or Capybara.
  • Participate in code reviews and CI/CD workflows while reducing technical debt.
  • Troubleshoot production issues, performance bottlenecks, API response times, and background job performance.
  • Apply secure development and OWASP practices and monitor application health using tools such as New Relic, Datadog, Honeybadger, or Rollbar.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of professional Ruby on Rails development experience.
  • Strong proficiency with Ruby, Rails, ActiveRecord, and MVC architecture.
  • Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL or MySQL.
  • Experience building and integrating REST APIs.
  • Experience with Sidekiq or Resque, plus familiarity with Redis, caching, and background processing.
  • Experience with Git and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Strong understanding of scalable backend application development, debugging, and problem-solving.
  • Ability to work remotely during U.S. business hours.
  • Experience with React, Vue.js, or Stimulus preferred.
  • Cloud deployment experience with AWS, GCP, or Heroku preferred.
  • Experience with Devise or OmniAuth, high-traffic Rails applications, or SaaS, fintech, healthcare, or e-commerce systems preferred.
