Description

  • Architect robust, scalable, and maintainable machine learning systems for training, real-time inference, validation, and monitoring.
  • Serve as a subject-matter expert in deep learning and adjacent modern data science methods.
  • Evaluate and adopt new AI/ML techniques, frameworks, and research advancements relevant to marketplace problems.
  • Define and evolve technical standards and best practices within the data science domain.
  • Lead cross-team data science initiatives such as bidding strategy improvements, prediction systems, and experimentation framework redesigns.
  • Partner with engineering and product leadership to drive the data science roadmap for a product area or platform capability.
  • Translate marketplace problems and business needs into data science solutions with measurable outcomes.
  • Solve novel, ambiguous problems involving methodology, algorithms, and feature engineering.
  • Mentor and develop senior data scientists and raise the scientific rigor of teams around them.
  • Communicate technical strategy and build consensus across senior leadership and cross-functional teams.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Data Science, Machine Learning, Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, Operations Research, or a related technical field with 6+ years of relevant industry experience, or an M.S./B.S. with 8+ years of relevant experience and demonstrated cross-team technical leadership.
  • Deep expertise in deep learning and broad fluency across the modern machine learning toolkit, with strong familiarity with optimization methods.
  • Experience with causal inference or experimentation design is a plus.
  • Proven ability to architect and deliver complex, production-grade machine learning systems at scale.
  • Strong track record of taking data science and machine learning projects to maturity with significant business impact.
  • Mastery of probability and statistics, especially techniques that scale to massive datasets.
  • Strong Python and SQL skills.
  • Experience with machine learning frameworks such as TensorFlow or PyTorch.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills for technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Track record of cross-team technical leadership and mentorship of senior data scientists and technical partners.
  • Experience developing, evaluating, or optimizing bidding algorithms for RTB environments is preferred.
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as GCP, AWS, or Azure, especially GCP and Vertex AI, is preferred.
  • Experience with ML pipeline and orchestration tools such as TFX, Kubeflow, or Airflow is preferred.
  • Familiarity with other programming languages such as Java and Go is preferred.
  • Experience in digital media, marketing technology, or advertising technology, especially marketplace, auction, or exchange systems, is preferred.
  • Track record of setting technical standards or best practices adopted beyond a single team is preferred.
  • Experience representing data science capabilities or strategy in cross-functional forums is preferred.
