Description

  • Work alongside the sales team as the technical and domain expert for customer-facing engagements.
  • Understand customer challenges and business issues and deliver product demonstrations aligned to their needs.
  • Answer product feature and technical questions from customers, partners, and internal Okta colleagues.
  • Plan and deliver proof-of-concepts for complex customer use cases, coordinating with other engineering teams as needed.
  • Provide feedback to product management on enhancements that address customer needs and create additional value.
  • Share best practices and reusable assets with other Solutions Engineers to improve team quality and efficiency.
  • Stay current on competitive analysis and market differentiation.
  • Support marketing events such as executive briefings, conferences, user groups, and trade shows.
  • Lead as a subject matter expert on specific product solutions and competitive knowledge when needed.
  • Manage territory execution, including pipeline building and support of quarterly and annual sales goals.

Requirements

  • 3-5+ years of pre-sales engineering experience.
  • Customer-facing experience in consulting or support, ideally in a pre-sales role.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical ideas clearly and quickly, including on a whiteboard.
  • Experience deploying applications on cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, GCP, or Vercel.
  • Experience with at least one network security protocol such as OAuth, OAuth2, SAML, or LDAP.
  • Experience working with REST APIs, API gateways, and SDKs.
  • Hands-on experience in one or more of the following: web development, mobile development, backend development, or IP-based real-time communications.
  • Understanding of core application security concerns such as password hashing, SSL/TLS, encryption at rest, XSS, and XSRF.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills for expert audiences and large groups.
  • Territory management skills, including pipeline building and collaboration with sales counterparts.
  • Typically 25% travel.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, MIS, or a comparable field is preferred.
  • Hands-on experience with Generative AI or LLM tools such as LangChain, GenKit, or LlamaIndex is a plus.
  • Experience integrating with microservices, data lakes, or customer data platforms is preferred.
  • Experience developing ReBAC or fine-grained authorization models is a plus.
  • Diagramming experience for user journey flows and complex architecture diagrams is a plus.
