Description

  • Partner with the sales team as the technical and domain expert on customer-facing enterprise deals.
  • Understand customer challenges and business issues and tailor product demonstrations to their needs.
  • Answer technical and product feature questions from customers, partners, and internal Okta teams.
  • Plan and deliver proof-of-concepts for complex customer use cases, collaborating with other engineering teams as needed.
  • Provide product feedback to help shape enhancements that better address customer needs.
  • Share best practices and reusable assets with other Solutions Engineers to improve team efficiency and quality.
  • Stay current on competitive analysis and market differentiation.
  • Support marketing events such as executive briefings, conferences, user groups, and trade shows.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on selected product solutions and competitive knowledge when needed.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of pre-sales engineering experience in IAM.
  • Strong understanding of IAM concepts including OAuth 2.0, OIDC, and SAML.
  • Experience with lifecycle management, RBAC, and provisioning/deprovisioning.
  • Hands-on experience in one or more development areas: web (JavaScript, HTML, frontend frameworks), mobile (iOS, Android), backend (Java, C#, Node.js, Python, PHP, Ruby), or IP-based real-time communications.
  • Experience working with REST APIs, API gateways, and SDKs.
  • Experience deploying applications on cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, GCP, or Vercel.
  • Understanding of core application security concerns such as password hashing, SSL/TLS, encryption at rest, XSS, and XSRF.
  • Customer-facing experience in a pre-sales, consulting, or support role.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical ideas clearly, including on-the-fly whiteboard explanations.
  • Elite presentation and communication skills for highly technical and experienced audiences.
  • Territory management experience, including pipeline building and collaboration with sales counterparts.
  • Diagramming experience for user journey flows and complex architecture diagrams.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, MIS, or a comparable field preferred.
  • Typically 25% travel.
  • Experience with Auth0, Auth0 FGA, or OpenFGA is a plus.
  • Hands-on experience with Generative AI or LLM tools such as LangChain, GenKit, or LlamaIndex is a plus.
  • Experience integrating with microservices, data lakes, or customer data platforms is a plus.
  • Experience developing ReBAC or fine-grained authorization models is a plus.

Benefits

  • Annual on-target compensation range of $152,000 to $228,000 USD for candidates in California (excluding San Francisco Bay Area), Colorado, Illinois, New York, and Washington.
