Description

  • Integrate and scale NLP methods to parse, clean, and analyze large unstructured and semi-structured text datasets.
  • Design, develop, test, calibrate, and implement statistical and machine learning models for fraud, improper payments, and noncompliance detection.
  • Build and refine supervised and unsupervised models, including regression, Bayesian, clustering, and ensemble approaches.
  • Maintain and support existing loan fraud indicators developed by the team.
  • Perform data quality analysis and create repeatable processes for combining and analyzing large data sources.
  • Collaborate with criminal investigators to develop analytic strategies for loan fraud cases and support protected-information handling requirements.
  • Develop case leads for SBA OIG investigations based on model outputs.
  • Document methodologies, test models, and production models to meet criminal evidentiary requirements.
  • Build visualizations and dashboards and tailor findings for investigative staff and OIG leadership.
  • Coordinate with data engineering to ensure the architecture supports machine learning and text processing pipelines efficiently.

Requirements

  • Master's, Ph.D., or doctorate-equivalent degree in data science, machine learning, computer science, mathematics, or a related field, or 10 years of applied experience in those fields.
  • Must have a Public Trust Clearance.
  • 5+ years of experience designing, implementing, and maintaining advanced AI systems and predictive models, including supervised and unsupervised models.
  • 5+ years of experience developing analytic rules and models using leading-edge analytic tools and best practices.
  • 5+ years of experience developing regression, classification, and other statistical models to identify anomalies, patterns, and predictive variables.
  • 3+ years of experience providing data support for criminal investigations into financial fraud or abuse of government funds.
  • 3+ years of experience manipulating data in Python; Pandas is required.
  • 3+ years of experience working in a modern cloud environment such as Azure, AWS, or GCP; certifications preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience conducting advanced data analysis in SQL, specifically SQL Server and PostgreSQL.
  • 2+ years of experience developing and scaling natural language processing solutions.
  • 2+ years of experience presenting methods and findings to technical and nontechnical stakeholders in oral and written formats with visualizations.
  • Production experience with named entity recognition and entity resolution across messy document corpora is preferred.
  • Experience with retrieval augmented generation, vector stores, embeddings, and semantic search at scale is preferred.
  • Experience integrating large language models under federal security constraints, including boundary-controlled deployment and prompt versioning, is preferred.
  • Experience with OCR pipelines for scanned or low-quality source documents is preferred.
  • Experience with topic modeling, document classification, or clustering applied to audit, legal, or investigative text is preferred.
  • Cloud certification in Azure, AWS, or GCP is preferred.
