Description

  • Own a Western territory and manage the full sales lifecycle from prospecting through close.
  • Build relationships with key decision makers at the school district level.
  • Develop territory business plans and tailor sales strategies based on funding and district initiatives.
  • Manage pipeline, forecasting, and lead generation campaigns.
  • Present solutions to school and district leaders and negotiate terms and agreements.
  • Collaborate with a cross-functional regional sales team to support revenue growth.
  • Evaluate customer needs and structure tailored solutions within established guidelines.
  • Represent Newsela in the market and make recommendations that influence strategy and results.
  • Support adoption and expansion of Newsela products across K-12 classrooms.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience hitting or exceeding large sales quotas in the K-12 EdTech space.
  • Prior experience as an ELA or Social Studies teacher/instructional coach, or a strong grasp of K-12 pedagogy, preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience as a strategic territory manager with executive presence.
  • Experience leading consultative district conversations and navigating multiple stakeholders.
  • Experience with high-volume district sales and building a book of business from scratch.
  • A self-starter with the ability to drive deals to close in a fast-paced environment.
  • Highly organized, adaptable to change, and able to meet established sales goals in an agile environment.
  • Willingness to travel about 15% of the time for face-to-face customer and prospect meetings.
  • Experience using AI tools to improve efficiency and productivity.
  • Legally authorized to work in the US.
  • Must reside in the Western United States and be able to work in Pacific or Mountain Time Zones.
  • Successful completion of a background check is required before employment.

Benefits

  • Base salary of $70,000 to $75,000, depending on experience.
  • On-target commission of $70,000.
  • On-target earnings of $140,000 to $145,000, with variable compensation eligibility.
