Description

  • Develop, design, and test software for EMS and grid applications, including core operations, interfaces, and custom enhancements.
  • Work on applications such as Topology Processor, Power Flows, State Estimator, Contingency Analysis, Load Frequency Control, DTS, ICCP, SCADA, CIM Importer, PMU, NMMS, and forecasting tools.
  • Analyze functional and non-functional requirements with internal stakeholders and translate them into software designs.
  • Build backend database changes using Oracle PL/SQL and support Oracle-based grid application functionality.
  • Develop user interface changes using GE EMS FGBuildler and Siemens WebSDK.
  • Migrate custom code to the upgraded EMS system as part of the EMS upgrade project.
  • Participate in design and requirements reviews with vendors including GE, Powertech, Siemens, EPG, and Itron.
  • Deploy, configure, integrate, and test vendor software releases in development environments.
  • Provide 24x7 level 2 support for critical production issues and troubleshoot root causes across applications, databases, and systems.
  • Collaborate with production support, grid operations, training, and network modeling teams, and present design, implementation, and training materials.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of related experience beyond degree requirements for Level 3, or minimum 5 years for Senior level.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field required.
  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of electric power systems operations and control functions, including power flow studies, state estimation, contingency analysis, economic dispatch, and unit commitment.
  • Experience with programming languages and scripting tools such as C, C++, Visual C++, Fortran, Java, Perl, Python, PL/SQL, and shell scripting.
  • Experience with web and enterprise technologies including J2EE, Servlets, SOAP, JavaScript, HTML/CSS, XML, JBOSS, and Tomcat.
  • Experience with Oracle, SQL Server, Git, GitHub, Windows, Linux, and AIX environments.
  • Experience with optimization solvers such as CPLEX/AMPL or Gurobi.
  • Experience with CIM/XML model-based tools and messaging services such as Tibco JMS or AMQ.
  • Preferred experience with Energy or Market Management Systems from vendors such as Hitachi Energy/ABB, GE, Siemens, Resource Innovations/Nexant, or OSI, Inc.
  • Preferred experience in the power industry, especially with software vendors, ISO, or utilities.
  • Preferred experience with CI/CD tools such as Bitbucket, Apache Maven, or Jenkins, and automation tools such as Selenium.
