Description

  • Design, build, and own security integrations and detections across multiple libraries, with a primary focus on .NET and/or Java.
  • Take features from prototype to production-ready, operationally supported software.
  • Monitor production telemetry and debug cross-system performance, timeout, and cost issues.
  • Drive down customer-facing problems through operational ownership of shipped systems.
  • Help define OKRs, break features into parallelizable components, and align designs through RFCs.
  • Partner with product, backend, and frontend teams to turn product ideas into adopted capabilities.
  • Mentor teammates and improve code quality, testing, and team effectiveness.
  • Represent Datadog in relevant language and security communities.

Requirements

  • Expert in at least one of .NET (C#) or Java.
  • Polyglot engineer able to contribute across other libraries with support from maintainers.
  • Strong software engineering fundamentals with modular, maintainable, well-tested code.
  • Product engineering mindset focused on user experience, product outcomes, and trade-offs.
  • Experience building and shipping libraries or SDKs used by other developers.
  • Understanding of packaging, versioning, and backward compatibility.
  • Experience measuring and optimizing performance and cost.
  • Operational maturity and full accountability for production systems.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including alignment through RFCs.
  • BS/MS/PhD in a STEM field or equivalent experience.
  • Deep expertise in .NET or Java runtime internals and instrumentation is a plus.
  • Experience across Go, Node.js, Python, Ruby, PHP, or C/C++ is a plus.
  • Application security background including WAF, RASP, SAST/IAST/SCA, or threat detection is a plus.
  • Experience with auto-instrumentation, APM/distributed tracing, or code telemetry is a plus.
  • Open-source maintenance experience or published packages such as NuGet or Maven is a plus.
  • Experience with AI-assisted developer tooling or agentic workflows is a plus.
