Description

  • Serve as MongoDB’s primary representative in the Bay Area startup ecosystem and build trusted relationships with founders, VCs, operators, accelerators, and community partners.
  • Design and execute a targeted startup acquisition strategy to engage and convert high-potential startups in the region.
  • Lead the ecosystem strategy and planning for founder programming, including VC-partnered events, demo days, hackathons, founder dinners, and conference-adjacent activations.
  • Own the planning and lead execution teams for startup-focused initiatives across events, partnerships, community, and content.
  • Collaborate with Brand, Social, and Digital Marketing teams to amplify regional startup initiatives through social, earned, and owned media channels.
  • Embed startup and developer audiences into cross-functional marketing initiatives with Revenue Marketing, Strategic Events, DevRel, and other internal teams.
  • Define success metrics for startup engagement, track performance, and use insights to continuously improve strategy and programming.
  • Communicate results and align stakeholders across a globally distributed team while maintaining an active local Bay Area presence.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in marketing, community, ecosystem, or events roles focused on startups, developers, or technical founders.
  • Experience managing and developing high-performing teams.
  • Deep familiarity with the Bay Area startup ecosystem, ideally with established relationships across VCs, founders, accelerators, and founder communities.
  • Experience working in or closely with startups or venture capital firms.
  • Strong understanding of how early-stage companies operate and grow.
  • Comfort engaging technical audiences and understanding startup engineering workflows.
  • Ability to thrive in 0-to-1 environments and build strategy, programs, and operational processes from the ground up.
  • Highly organized and execution-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple stakeholders and drive initiatives from strategy through delivery.
  • Data-driven mindset with the ability to define metrics, track impact, and communicate results clearly.
  • Confidence communicating with founders, investors, and senior internal stakeholders.
  • Ability to operate autonomously while collaborating with a globally distributed team.
  • Experience with AI-native marketing strategy or startup ecosystem programming is a plus.
