Description

  • Own government and defense relationships across the executive branch, DoD acquisition offices, military decision-makers, defense primes, and Congress.
  • Build and manage a qualified pipeline of government and defense opportunities from initial engagement through procurement and contract signature.
  • Determine the appropriate acquisition pathway for each opportunity, including OTA, SBIR, GSA Schedule, direct procurement, and defense prime subcontracting.
  • Manage procurement processes end to end within the Department of Defense.
  • Shape requirements with program offices and acquisition professionals when solicitations are written for manufacturing inspection capabilities.
  • Build partnerships with defense innovation organizations such as DIU, AFWERX, NavalX, and DEVCOM.
  • Develop and present government vertical strategy, including pipeline forecasts, resource needs, and a 12-month roadmap.
  • Brief Congress on Lumafield’s technology and monitor and influence defense policy, authorization, and appropriations priorities.
  • Work with government affairs partners to develop and maintain relationships with Congress.
  • Drive opportunities through to signed contracts and deployed systems across military installations, defense primes, and federal agencies.

Requirements

  • 8–15+ years of combined military, government, and private-sector experience.
  • Direct experience inside the DoD acquisition system, either as a military acquisition officer, a civilian in a program office, or on the contractor side.
  • Experience navigating FAR/DFARS, OTAs, SBIRs, or similar government acquisition vehicles.
  • Hill experience in a legislative or committee staff role, or experience serving as a liaison between DoD and Congress.
  • Understanding of how defense authorization and appropriations work and how to brief congressional staff effectively.
  • An existing network across Congress, the Office of the Secretary of Defense, service branch acquisition commands, and the defense prime ecosystem.
  • Technical fluency to discuss non-destructive inspection, quality assurance, and manufacturing process control with military and defense audiences.
  • Typical background may include 4–8 years of active-duty service, 2–4 years on the Hill or in government affairs, and 2–5 years in defense tech or government contracting.
  • Military service and experience in logistics, acquisition, maintenance, or materiel command functions is preferred.
  • MBA, equivalent business training, or a graduate degree is preferred.
  • Prior experience in defense manufacturing, sustainment, depot maintenance, or industrial base policy is preferred.
  • Experience with defense prime supply chain quality programs and the defense innovation ecosystem is preferred.
  • Experience selling or deploying hardware-and-software platforms into government customers is preferred.
  • Active security clearance or ability to obtain one is preferred.
