Description

  • Design, build, and maintain backend services for device connectivity, telemetry ingest, health monitoring, and command/control operations.
  • Use AI-powered agentic workflows to speed up service scaffolding, test creation, code generation, validation, and incident triage.
  • Help define and codify AI-native engineering practices for the Devices Cloud team and broader organization.
  • Collaborate with firmware, mobile, and product teams to define APIs and device-driven workflows.
  • Build and own data pipelines for high-throughput telemetry streams using Kafka or similar technologies.
  • Deliver scalable, resilient microservices on AWS using services such as EKS, Lambda, DynamoDB, and SQS.
  • Instrument services for observability, reliability, and SLO compliance.
  • Participate in on-call rotation and live incident response.
  • Write clean, testable, performant code and contribute to CI/CD automation and engineering standards.
  • Mentor teammates and help evolve the team’s AI-native engineering culture.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience building and operating backend services in Java, Go, Python, or similar languages.
  • Hands-on experience prompting, evaluating, and building with LLMs as a development partner.
  • Experience with agentic workflows, prompt engineering, context window management, and MCP/function calling.
  • Track record of using AI tools to improve specs, test coverage, code quality, and debugging speed.
  • Strong experience with microservices architecture, RESTful API design, and distributed systems.
  • Experience with cloud infrastructure and container orchestration, preferably on AWS.
  • Experience with production deployments.
  • Experience with relational and/or NoSQL databases, caching, and event or streaming systems.
  • Ability to collaborate across teams and communicate technical tradeoffs clearly.
  • Experience with IoT, telematics, or embedded/hardware-adjacent systems is preferred.
  • Familiarity with Kafka, Kinesis, or other high-throughput streaming platforms is preferred.
  • Experience with high-frequency ingest systems and time-series data is preferred.
  • Background with observability tooling such as Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, or DataDog is preferred.
  • Knowledge of SRE practices and automated testing frameworks is preferred.
