Description

  • Build and strengthen relationships with creators, publishers, authors, and other partners in the Publishing community.
  • Track creator interactions in Kickstarter’s CRM and manage outreach support in line with service-level agreements.
  • Own relationships with top-tier creators to maintain communication, retain business, and support launches.
  • Develop and refine category-specific educational resources with internal teams.
  • Share best practices, industry insights, and platform resources to educate and empower creators.
  • Represent Kickstarter at press, virtual, in-person, and industry events to grow awareness and community engagement.
  • Develop partnerships with institutions and ecosystem stakeholders to expand Kickstarter’s referral pipeline and visibility.
  • Collaborate across the company on category strategy, revenue targets, creator retention, and growth initiatives.
  • Identify and pitch new prospective creators, and work to re-engage creators considering alternative funding options.
  • Gather market intelligence on industry trends and competing platforms to inform outreach strategy.
  • Support beta recruitment and drive adoption of new product features and services among priority creators.
  • Surface creator feedback on product, policies, and user experience to internal stakeholders.
  • Use category curation channels and marketing collaborations to showcase creator work and highlight success stories.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of professional experience in the publishing industry.
  • A network of publishing-industry connections, ideally in literary and talent agencies, large traditional publishing houses, or influencer/celebrity/content creator publishing.
  • Experience as an acquisitions editor, literary agent, or in a sales or business development role within publishing.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate and execute strategic plans that produce data-driven results.
  • Exceptional communication skills, including speaking and presenting to small and large groups and engaging with the press.
  • Ability to represent Kickstarter positively at industry events.
  • Strong judgment for evaluating publishing projects based on quality, innovation, creativity, and clarity of presentation.
  • Bonus points for being a creator, entrepreneur, and/or Kickstarter creator within the category of focus.
  • Bonus points for professional experience and connections in an area of potential growth for Kickstarter.
  • Must be located in, or willing to relocate to, one of Kickstarter’s supported US locations or the United Kingdom.
