Description

  • Oversee the implementation, monitoring, maintenance, and support of IonQ’s global LAN, WAN, wireless, and VPN infrastructure.
  • Configure, manage, and lifecycle network hardware such as routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, and wireless controllers.
  • Manage relationships, procurement, and work reviews with hardware and software vendors.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation and resolve escalated Tier 1/2 helpdesk and critical network issues.
  • Maintain up-to-date network diagrams, configurations, procedural documentation, and knowledge-base articles.
  • Mentor and upskill junior administrators, help desk staff, and contractor teams.
  • Lead the operational roadmap for integrating newly acquired subsidiaries into a unified network infrastructure.
  • Design and execute repeatable site deployment plans for office buildouts, expansions, and maintenance.
  • Support Zero Trust architecture, network segmentation, IAM alignment, MDM, and conditional access policies.
  • Ensure network environments and subsidiary integrations comply with CMMC, SOC2 Type II, NIST SP 800-171, CUI, and ITAR requirements.

Requirements

  • 7-10 years of experience in network engineering and administration.
  • 3-5 years of leadership, project management, or operations management experience in multi-site or complex corporate environments.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Deep understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, and routing protocols such as OSPF and BGP.
  • Strong hands-on experience with enterprise firewalls such as Fortinet or Palo Alto Networks, secure VPN tunneling, and access control lists.
  • Practical experience building, auditing, or maintaining networks within regulated frameworks such as SOC2 Type II or CMMC.
  • Familiarity with migrations from on-prem Active Directory to cloud directories such as JumpCloud or Okta, including Conditional Access Policies.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and collaboration skills for working with subsidiary IT leads, internal stakeholders, and external vendors.
  • Ability to participate in an after-hours on-call rotation and travel occasionally to IonQ sites.
  • Preferred qualifications include advanced certifications such as CCNP, PCNSE, or NSE 4-7; experience in aerospace, defense, or deep tech; cloud networking experience with GCP or AWS; and knowledge of Python or Ansible for network automation.
