Description

  • Own technical direction for storage platforms with significant autonomy and responsibility.
  • Work with application engineering teams and internal stakeholders from problem definition through solution delivery.
  • Design and ship high-quality, scalable, and robust storage solutions with urgency.
  • Drive high-impact storage initiatives that improve resiliency, high availability, and company-wide storage efficiency.
  • Build and improve automated monitoring and control-plane systems for database clusters.
  • Develop supporting services such as database proxies, snapshotting, and backups.
  • Support multi-environment development and testing infrastructure and cloud-provider integrations.
  • Contribute to architectural shifts in distributed database systems, AI-based monitoring, and tiered storage.
  • Collaborate across teams to align on complex technical decisions and execution.
  • Review code, establish standards, and help scale team output through delegation and mentorship.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience as a software engineer in large-scale cloud services or application development environments.
  • 1+ year of hands-on experience delivering large-scale solutions with an industry-recognized database, ideally PostgreSQL.
  • 1+ year of experience building cloud-based control-plane software.
  • Experience architecting and designing backend systems in a production environment.
  • Experience working with a large codebase on a cross-functional team and driving alignment across teams and stakeholders.
  • Ability to take complex existing solutions and evolve them to meet changing business needs.
  • Strong ownership, self-motivation, and comfort in a growth-oriented startup environment.
  • Ability to dive deep into technical problems, identify root causes, and solve them correctly.
  • Ability to balance urgency with shipping high-quality, pragmatic solutions.
  • Preferred: bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, or electrical engineering.
  • Preferred: familiarity with distributed databases such as Yugabyte, CRDB, or TiDB.
  • Preferred: mentoring experience with other software engineers.
  • Preferred: experience with Go, Python, Rust, RDS, Postgres, EC2, selected GCP services, Datadog, Cloudwatch, Sentry, and Snowflake.

  • Base salary range of $230,000-$242,500 for CA, NY, CT, and NJ.
  • Base salary range of $220,000-$232,000 for WA.
  • Base salary range of $211,000-$222,000 for several other listed states.
  • Base salary range of $192,000-$202,000 for all other states.
