Description

  • Own architecture for AI voice agents, next-best-action guidance, or standalone agents across voice, chat, and SMS.
  • Design low-latency systems for in-call intent detection, transcription, speaker separation, inference, and recommendations.
  • Build reusable orchestration workflows and versioned output contracts for AI agents and external automation systems.
  • Define identification, context retrieval, safe-failure, human-handoff, and audit-trail contracts for AI agents.
  • Establish agent evaluation metrics, reliability frameworks, and SLOs for agent-facing services.
  • Lead technical design reviews and drive architectural consistency across ticketing, case management, scheduling, and speech-processing services.
  • Design and build Python backend services, data models, and Kafka-based event streams.
  • Set standards for testing, observability, production triage, security, and healthcare-data compliance.
  • Mentor engineers and partner with product to scope ambiguous initiatives into phased technical plans.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of backend engineering experience with technical ownership of complex, multi-service systems.
  • Strong Python and asynchronous programming experience, including production FastAPI or Django experience.
  • Experience designing distributed, event-driven architectures using Kafka or similar technologies.
  • Experience with service-to-service authentication, webhook integrations, and idempotency and retry design.
  • Experience with MongoDB or another NoSQL database and working knowledge of PostgreSQL.
  • Production experience with conversational AI or voice-agent systems, including telephony, IVR, or real-time speech pipelines.
  • Experience building real-time, streaming-context decision systems with confidence thresholds and human escalation.
  • Experience with LLM/agent frameworks and agent evaluation, reliability, and monitoring practices.
  • Track record of cross-team architecture leadership, technical design documentation, and engineer mentorship.
  • Experience with Docker, CI/CD, observability tooling, Git, and collaborative development workflows.
