Description

  • Review claims in real time for potential fraud or abuse and gather sufficient evidence to make determinations.
  • Analyze customer behavior and incidents using internal and external data to assign or recommend customer risk scores.
  • Perform fraud investigations and identify emerging fraud and abuse trends.
  • Follow regulatory and departmental procedures, document investigations, and escalate non-standard cases to a manager as needed.
  • Provide feedback that helps improve Extend’s risk models and internal fraud detection processes.
  • Collaborate with Claims, Product, and Engineering on ad hoc tasks to evaluate and improve in-house fraud models.
  • Attend regular meetings and training sessions on Fraud Operations best practices.
  • Proactively take on additional tasks to support team goals and business needs.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of direct fraud/abuse operations experience, preferably in an eCommerce environment.
  • Ability to work Monday through Friday from 2:00 PM to 11:00 PM Pacific Time.
  • Candidates must be located within the continental United States; applicants in California are not eligible.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, preferably in a related field.
  • Strong understanding of fraud concepts and prevention best practices.
  • Experience performing due diligence fraud investigations and making evidence-based determinations.
  • Ability to make independent decisions regarding customer risk scores and claim outcomes.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, information gathering, and decision-making skills.
  • Proficiency with spreadsheets and office software such as Excel and Microsoft/Google Suite.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to deep dive into internal and external data.
  • Positive attitude and ability to thrive in a rapidly changing, results-driven environment.
  • Empathetic, humble, and collaborative team-player mindset.
  • Preferred: prior experience in a retail or high-growth startup eCommerce environment.
  • Preferred: familiarity with SQL and data tools such as Snowflake.
  • Preferred: exposure to project management or CRM tools such as JIRA or Untangl.
