Description

  • Design and develop scalable event-driven microservices for high-volume customer interactions.
  • Build robust APIs for web, mobile, and third-party consumers.
  • Design efficient database schemas and optimize queries for backend services.
  • Make architectural and technical trade-off decisions for the platform.
  • Implement observability through logging, metrics, tracing, and alerting.
  • Develop backend features for surveys, messaging, campaigns, analytics, and integrations.
  • Build and maintain integrations with external systems such as POS, loyalty platforms, and review sites.
  • Integrate AI APIs and apply AI-first development approaches to product features and developer workflows.
  • Mentor junior and mid-level engineers through code reviews and pair programming.
  • Partner with product managers and frontend engineers to translate requirements into designs and API contracts.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience building backend systems, APIs, or distributed services.
  • Strong understanding of microservices, service communication, and eventual consistency.
  • Experience with event-driven systems such as queues, pub/sub, or event buses.
  • Experience designing RESTful or GraphQL APIs, including versioning, authentication, rate limiting, and documentation.
  • Proficiency in SQL or NoSQL database design, optimization, and tuning.
  • Experience with test-driven development and unit, integration, and end-to-end testing.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, deployment automation, version control, and collaborative development.
  • Strong AI development workflow experience.
  • Familiarity with Node.js/TypeScript and AWS services such as Lambda, EventBridge, SQS, S3, API Gateway, and DynamoDB.
  • Preferred experience with SaaS, multi-tenant architecture, real-time communication, restaurant tech, hospitality, local business software, Infrastructure as Code, monitoring tools, and API documentation tools.
