Description

  • Own end-to-end delivery of significant backend platform components from design through production.
  • Lead implementation within a focused domain such as integrations, messaging infrastructure, data ingestion, or core platform services.
  • Make day-to-day technical decisions on data modeling, API design, error handling, and operational concerns within your domain.
  • Partner with AI Engineering and Product to translate evolving requirements into reliable, well-tested software.
  • Improve reliability, performance, and observability in systems you own and respond to production incidents.
  • Mentor mid-level and junior engineers through code review, pairing, and design feedback.
  • Contribute to platform-wide design discussions and help shape engineering standards.
  • Build and operate integration workflows including partner APIs, webhook ingestion, CSV imports, sync logic, and retry/backoff handling.
  • Build and maintain messaging pipelines for email, SMS, and chat delivery with throughput, deliverability, suppression, and audit tracking.
  • Develop backend platform services and orchestration flows using FastAPI, Celery, EventBridge, and queue-based systems.

Requirements

  • Equivalent of 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, with significant backend platform, integrations, or data infrastructure focus.
  • Proven track record of owning and delivering significant backend features or components in production from design through operation.
  • Experience deploying and operating production backend systems at scale.
  • Strong proficiency in Python, with production experience using FastAPI, Celery, and similar async/queue-based frameworks.
  • Deep experience with Postgres, including schema design, query optimization, and production operations.
  • Experience working with large datasets and real-world data quality issues across heterogeneous source systems.
  • Experience designing and operating third-party SaaS integrations, including handling rate limits, schema drift, and partial failures.
  • Strong background in modern cloud-based architectures, particularly AWS.
  • Active use of modern AI coding tools such as Claude Code, OpenAI Codex, Cursor, or similar in your workflow.
  • Preferred: experience in B2B SaaS environments, or integrating with MAPs, CRMs, CDPs, or DMS platforms.
  • Preferred: production experience with Terraform, EKS, Datadog, and GitLab.
  • Preferred: experience operating messaging infrastructure such as SMTP, SMS aggregators, or chat platforms.
  • Preferred: experience building platforms consumed by AI agents or other automated systems.
  • Preferred: experience with Redshift, DynamoDB, EventBridge, and Redis.
