Description

  • Build strong, trusting relationships with engineers across multiple time zones and cultures.
  • Lead one-on-one and team meetings, including facilitation, note-taking, and follow-up actions.
  • Set and reinforce clear expectations for the engineering role with alignment, fairness, and transparency.
  • Drive the full performance management cycle, including development planning, progress tracking, and appraisals.
  • Manage performance issues, provide support, and guide teams through constructive feedback and objective reviews.
  • Navigate sensitive or challenging conversations with professionalism, emotional intelligence, and discretion.
  • Support engineers through conflict, blockers, and personal or professional challenges.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to maintain communication and alignment on organisational goals.
  • Guide the team through organisational transitions and help maintain morale during periods of uncertainty.
  • Champion a culture of openness, accountability, respect, engagement, and productivity.

Requirements

  • Experience in a people-centric leadership or people management role.
  • Experience with performance management, coaching, and delivering actionable feedback.
  • Strong communication skills and confidence in handling tough conversations.
  • Excellent listening skills with attention, interest, and empathy.
  • Highly organised and able to manage multiple workstreams in a fully remote environment.
  • Comfortable working with a globally dispersed team across diverse cultures, communication styles, and time zones.
  • Empathetic, open-minded, and committed to supporting people at all levels.
  • Adaptable and resilient, with the ability to support change and encourage learning.
  • Experience in a tech or open source environment is a plus, but not required.
