Description

  • Build backend systems, write code, and support deployments for game projects.
  • Collaborate with the team lead and stakeholders to estimate and prioritise work.
  • Work with peers to iterate on solutions that meet project requirements.
  • Keep the project lead and producer updated on revised estimates and delivery timelines.
  • Maintain high standards through testing, CI/CD, and documentation practices.
  • Support team members in day-to-day work and technical delivery.
  • Understand, maintain, and extend existing codebases.
  • Develop new backend features and systems for production use.
  • Contribute to the integration of backend services with game projects.
  • Help define solutions and implement features on time and to a high standard.

Requirements

  • Experience in game development with at least two commercially released game titles involving server backends for AAA games, free-to-play mobile games, casino apps, or similar.
  • Experience releasing at least two backend services with a large number of concurrent users.
  • Production experience with at least one of Java, Golang, C#, C++, or Kotlin.
  • Desirable experience with Python, Node.js, and React.
  • Experience with cloud platforms including Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud, and Microsoft Azure.
  • AWS Certification at Associate level or above is advantageous.
  • Experience with infrastructure as code tools such as Terraform.
  • Ability to create documentation, designs, and comments to support development.
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to discuss technical and production matters clearly.
  • Excellent time management and ability to work autonomously.
  • Experience building distributed applications.
  • Attention to detail and ability to comprehend and follow direction.
  • Experience with Git, Perforce, or other source control software.
  • Ability to adapt to new tools, languages, and concepts as required by the project.
  • Knowledge of microservices and service-oriented architectures, especially Kubernetes and Docker.
  • Experience building CI/CD pipelines to validate and test code.
  • Awareness of security and cheating implications of technology choices.
  • Experience using Gen AI for code generation.
  • Demonstrable database experience with both SQL and NoSQL is beneficial.
  • Understanding of how backend services integrate with the game; experience with Unreal or Unity is useful but not required.
  • Experience with high-scale distributed applications serving hundreds of thousands of concurrent users with high uptime and performance is beneficial.
  • Understanding of how to use LLMs to process and query structured and unstructured data is beneficial.
  • UK or EU based location requirement.
