Description

  • Maintain and improve current systems while designing and implementing new ones.
  • Uphold a high-quality standard across the backend stack in collaboration with other teams.
  • Deliver well-tested and scalable solutions.
  • Collaborate with customers and business teams to translate requirements into technical documentation and architectural drawings.
  • Monitor systems and optimize their performance and reliability.
  • Mentor and guide junior team members.
  • Participate in interviewing and evaluating new candidates.
  • Share and debate best practices with peers.
  • Coordinate with other departments to avoid duplicated efforts.
  • Develop solutions using modern technologies and contribute to the technical direction of the product.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience on a production system as a developer.
  • Solid understanding of APIs and contracts.
  • Solid understanding of microservices and domain-driven design.
  • Excellent knowledge of Java, specifically Java 21.
  • Strong knowledge of the Spring Framework and Spring ecosystem, with similar frameworks also acceptable.
  • Experience with highly distributed, event-driven systems.
  • Experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL and MySQL, and NoSQL databases such as Elasticsearch, Bigtable, and Redis.
  • In-depth knowledge of RESTful API design and implementation.
  • Working knowledge of messaging technologies; Apache Kafka is a plus.
  • Experience building and debugging complex systems.
  • Some exposure to reactive programming is welcome.
  • Proficiency with Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Ability to write concise, idiomatic Java code.
  • Knowledge of unit testing frameworks and end-to-end testing.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Adaptable, resourceful, and able to share knowledge with the team.
  • Fluency in English.
