Description

  • Manage and grow a team of 10–15 engineers while fostering a high-performance, high-integrity culture.
  • Define team objectives, prioritize work streams, and align execution with broader Connected Warfare initiatives.
  • Remove impediments, secure resources, and drive timely delivery of complex software projects using agile methods.
  • Serve as the main liaison between the team and senior leadership by communicating status, managing expectations, and advocating for team needs.
  • Own architecture, design, and implementation oversight for high-performance, low-latency edge applications.
  • Guide technical decisions related to memory safety, concurrency, inter-process communication, and hardware-software interface design.
  • Champion software quality through code reviews, testing for embedded deployments, and CI/CD best practices.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners to support system integration and resolve technical challenges.
  • Coach engineers, provide feedback, and create structured career development plans.
  • Travel occasionally, up to 10% of the time, to observe systems in real-world operational settings.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience as a software engineering manager leading high-performing teams.
  • 8+ years of hands-on software development experience in resilient, high-performance software for distributed edge systems, networked applications, or Embedded Linux environments.
  • Strong expertise in C++ or Rust, with deep knowledge of systems programming, memory management, concurrency, and performance optimization.
  • Proven track record of delivering complex software projects under tight deadlines in a matrixed organization.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills with the ability to inspire and develop engineers.
  • Experience with agile development methodologies and process improvement.
  • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Top Secret security clearance.
  • Preferred experience managing teams in mission-critical domains such as command and control, robotics, or defense applications.
  • Preferred familiarity with modern DevOps and CI/CD practices for embedded and distributed deployments.
  • Preferred background in distributed systems, connected ecosystems, hardware integrations, IoT device management, telemetry, secure OTA updates, networking, security, system integration, device drivers, or firmware development.
