Description

  • Develop, maintain, and optimize web applications using PHP/Laravel, WordPress, and Node.js.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders, designers, QA, marketing, and IT to define requirements and deliver new features.
  • Troubleshoot, profile, and optimize code for performance, stability, and security.
  • Write clean, well-documented code and participate in code reviews.
  • Monitor application health, identify bugs or bottlenecks, and implement fixes.
  • Own change requests and enhancements for ciat.edu and related web properties.
  • Create responsive, interactive web pages aligned with CIAT brand guidelines.
  • Use version control tools to keep website content editable for collaborative maintenance.
  • Estimate project scope and implement web solutions based on stakeholder requirements.
  • Review analytics and visitor-monitoring data to recommend usability, accessibility, and feature improvements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in software development, web development, computer science, or related industry experience.
  • 7+ years of web programming experience in professional business environments.
  • 7+ years of experience with version control tools such as Git.
  • Advanced expertise in PHP/Laravel, including Eloquent relationships, service container usage, event-driven design, and queue orchestration.
  • Strong proficiency in WordPress, including multisite or headless implementations, REST API customization, and caching strategies.
  • Strong proficiency in Node.js, including service-oriented architecture, WebSockets, and production performance profiling.
  • Strong proficiency in front-end development, with deep knowledge of JavaScript (ES6+), CSS/SASS/LESS, and experience with React or Vue.js.
  • Experience designing and optimizing relational database schemas with MySQL or PostgreSQL, plus working knowledge of Redis or MongoDB.
  • Experience with Docker, CI/CD workflows, and familiarity with Kubernetes.
  • Strong proficiency with RESTful and GraphQL API design, OAuth2, JWT, and real-time communication patterns.
  • Experience with automated testing using PHPUnit, Jest/Mocha, or Cypress.
  • Familiarity with security best practices, including OWASP guidelines and content security policies.
  • Experience with backend languages such as Rust, or exposure to Go or Python, preferred.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Power Pages, preferred.
  • Experience with responsive web design, mobile compatibility, UI/UX best practices, SEO, and compliance-friendly code.
  • Ability to work independently, estimate effort accurately, and deliver within structured development cycles.
  • Willingness to participate in regular team check-ins and provide clear progress updates.
  • Must be able to work remotely while residing in New Mexico, Florida, or Massachusetts.
  • Monday through Friday schedule with occasional weekend and evening hours required.

Benefits

  • Pay range of $85,000 to $95,000 USD.
  • Full-time, exempt employment status.
