Description

  • Manage and maintain hybrid on-premise and cloud infrastructure with a focus on resilience, stability, and sustainability.
  • Identify and implement improvements to infrastructure, tooling, and operational workflows.
  • Build deep knowledge of BMAT’s infrastructure and serve as a trusted technical team member.
  • Write reusable infrastructure-as-code or configuration management modules for broader team use.
  • Proactively identify reliability, performance, and security risks before they affect production systems.
  • Support engineering teams in resolving infrastructure-related issues.
  • Participate in incident response, maintenance, and support workflows alongside the IT team.
  • Collaborate with Engineering and DevOps teams to deploy, maintain, and improve supporting systems.
  • Schedule and perform maintenance and upgrade tasks to keep server infrastructure current and secure.
  • Coordinate maintenance activities with other teams to minimize downtime and take ownership of quarterly objectives.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in IT systems administration.
  • Extensive experience installing and maintaining Linux OS via CLI in on-premise or cloud environments.
  • Experience managing SaaS systems and public/private cloud resources through web consoles and/or APIs.
  • Knowledge of TCP/IP networking, including DNS and HTTP.
  • Python 3 and/or Bash scripting/programming skills.
  • Extensive experience with configuration management tools such as Puppet and Ansible and/or IaC tools such as Terraform.
  • Experience using or managing VPN systems such as OpenVPN and/or IPsec.
  • Understanding of symmetric and asymmetric key cryptography and its application in SSH and SSL.
  • Experience with SQL databases; DBA experience is an advantage.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with team members, stakeholders, and third parties.
  • Strong time-management and self-organization skills with the ability to prioritize competing workloads.
  • Proactive, collaborative, and willing to learn, take initiative, and accept feedback.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Fluency in English.
  • Spanish and Catalan proficiency is highly appreciated but not mandatory.
  • The role is based in Barcelona, with local candidates preferred and remote arrangements considered.
