Description

Lead technical leadership across the studio by directly managing technical leads on 4 to 8 active projects.
Support technical leads in people leadership, technical decision-making, execution quality, and team effectiveness.
Own hiring for key technical roles, including technical leads and senior engineering individual contributors.
Partner with project leadership to define hiring needs, assess candidates, and build effective engineering teams.
Drive technical assessment for partner opportunities such as remasters, ports, live operations, and proposal work.
Review existing codebases to identify technical risks, constraints, staffing implications, and delivery complexity.
Help set new projects up for success by establishing build and release pipelines, evaluating middleware, and defining workflows.
Provide ongoing engineering leadership to help teams resolve technical issues, platform complexity, performance concerns, and architectural drift.
Work with Production and studio leadership to track technical risks, schedule impacts, capacity constraints, and expertise gaps.
Champion engineering standards and cross-functional alignment across engineering, production, design, art, QA, and partner teams.

Requirements

Significant experience in game development in a senior engineering leadership role.
Track record of influencing technical direction and delivery across multiple projects.
Experience managing technical leaders and supporting both people leadership and technical decision-making.
Ability to assess unfamiliar codebases quickly and evaluate technical feasibility, architectural risk, staffing needs, and delivery complexity.
Experience with both proprietary and commercial game engines.
Understanding of remasters, ports, live operations, co-development, and partner-driven production environments.
Experience setting projects up with build pipelines, tooling, middleware choices, team composition, and technical planning practices.
Ability to step into troubled projects and help restore clarity, momentum, and technical control without undermining local ownership.
Strong communication skills and the ability to translate technical realities into schedule, risk, capacity, and staffing discussions.
Bonus: experience contributing to business development through technical due diligence, partner proposals, RFP responses, or project scoping.
Bonus: experience across AAA, AA, and external partner game projects.
Bonus: experience with Unreal, Unity, and proprietary technology stacks.
Bonus: experience building or improving studio-wide engineering practices, pipelines, or technical review processes.
