Description

  • Own hard problems end-to-end, from framing the outcome to deciding what to build, shipping it, and measuring whether it worked.
  • Partner with product managers as a peer to define problems, run experiments, and incorporate customer evidence into product decisions.
  • Harden critical paths, eliminate incident classes, and design abstractions that other engineers build on.
  • Review risky changes and provide high-signal technical feedback.
  • Communicate tradeoffs and risks clearly to help the team make good decisions.
  • Share learnings about AI openly so the team improves together.
  • Work across backend, frontend, and data systems as needed to solve the highest-priority problems.
  • Stay close to customers through user interviews, session recordings, and support interactions.
  • Contribute to AI-related scaffolding such as evals, review tooling, and fast CI to make agentic development effective.
  • Help drive initiatives such as ranking and recommendation improvements, AI support evaluation systems, and unified child-information flows.

Requirements

  • Years of production systems experience with strong technical judgment.
  • Ability to work effectively on ambiguous problems with incomplete information.
  • Track record as a generalist who can move across backend, frontend, and data work.
  • Ability to learn unfamiliar parts of the stack quickly when the problem requires it.
  • Experience making crisp tradeoff decisions and managing up with clarity.
  • Comfort working in a remote-first environment across the US and Canada.
  • Willingness to use AI in day-to-day work and in the hiring process.
  • Experience with or exposure to modern web and data stacks such as Rails, React, TypeScript, MySQL, Snowflake, dbt, Airflow, AWS, Kubernetes, or Terraform.
  • Experience with machine learning, retrieval/ranking, or AI tooling is relevant for the role.
  • Canada-based Senior Engineer compensation starts at $255,900-$318,600 CAD base salary, plus a target annual bonus of 15% of base, meaningful equity, and RRSP match.
